Position Summary
The Contracts Officer is a full-time position responsible for managing the complete lifecycle of construction contracts on several civil projects. The role focuses on ensuring the contracts meet commercial goals, comply with regulations, and mitigate risks effectively. This position requires close collaboration with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and senior management to optimize contract administration, safeguard company interests, and enhance project profitability. Adaptability, proactive involvement, and strong stakeholder communication are key traits for success.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, law, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years’ hands-on experience in contract management specifically within civil construction or infrastructure projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of standard construction contract frameworks.
- Proven capability in managing subcontractor contracts, claims, and contract variations.
- Strong commercial insight with effective cost control skills.
- Knowledge of procurement procedures and project delivery methods related to civil works such as roads, earthworks, utilities, and drainage systems.
- Excellent negotiation, dispute resolution, and communication abilities.
- Experienced with contract management software and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee contract and commercial management processes to ensure compliance and successful outcomes.
- Manage procurement activities and maintain strong subcontractor relationships.
- Handle claims and variations efficiently to maintain project budgets and scope.
- Implement cost control measures and provide financial oversight throughout projects.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Engage effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, project teams, subcontractors, and senior leadership.
