Job description

Overview

The Consulting Account Manager role focuses on driving sales for Microsoft consulting, Industry Solutions Delivery (ISD), and Unified support services within government and public-sector clients across Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland in Australia. Based on the East Coast, this position is responsible for originating, qualifying, and closing service-related opportunities including significant Whole-of-Government engagements. Collaboration with account teams, service delivery, and customer leadership is essential to achieve impactful business results. The customer base primarily serves the Healthcare sector, making experience in this area advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, qualify, and sustain a robust pipeline of service engagements across government and public-sector accounts in VIC, NSW, and QLD, while ensuring precise forecasting and CRM upkeep.
  • Initiate and secure consulting, ISD, and Unified support agreements managing the complete sales cycle from initial qualification through to contract closure.
  • Create and implement strategic account plans alongside account teams that align Microsoft’s services with client priorities and renewal timelines including Enterprise Agreements, Microsoft Agreements, and Unified contracts.
  • Establish and nurture trusted partnerships with both business and technical leaders, including executives at the C-level.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams comprising specialists, delivery personnel, deal desks, and legal advisors to develop compliant, value-oriented proposals.
  • Navigate the public-sector procurement landscape, including Whole-of-Government frameworks, and facilitate necessary deal approvals and risk assessments.
  • Achieve defined quarterly and annual revenue and consumption targets.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Demonstrated success in enterprise services, solution, or consulting sales with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Expertise in consultative selling with the ability to align customer outcomes with service proposals effectively.
  • Experience navigating government and public-sector sales processes within large, complex accounts, ideally in the Healthcare domain.
  • Strong discipline in managing sales pipelines and maintaining accurate forecasting.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and team coordination skills.
  • Readiness to travel as needed to VIC, NSW, and QLD customers.
  • Preferred candidates will have knowledge of Microsoft Cloud technologies including Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Security solutions, as well as experience with Unified support product offerings.
  • Existing networks within Western Australian and South Australian government sectors are desirable.
