About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Consultant specialized in Protection Coordination Studies to join our expanding team in Kochi or remotely across India. This position offers the opportunity to engage in influential consultancy projects and contribute toward the advancement of our services in the energy transition sector. The role involves undertaking pivotal work, collaborating with experts, and impacting client results positively.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct protection coordination studies and determine relay settings for equipment such as transformers, reactors, generators, transmission lines, and cables.
- Perform design reviews of protection systems and offer technical advice throughout project phases, including development and detailed design.
- Assess protection philosophies, settings reports, and technical documents ensuring quality and compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
- Support proposal development, technical bids, and participate in business development activities within the team.
- Mentor junior consultants and collaborate with teams across power systems, electromagnetic transients (EMT), earthing, and grid compliance.
- Proactively cooperate with the UK team on projects and proposals.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with at least 5 years of power systems experience.
- Have minimum 2 years’ experience delivering protection engineering consultancy for transmission, distribution, renewable generation, or industrial power systems.
- Deep understanding of protection principles for high voltage (HV), extra high voltage (EHV), and medium voltage (MV) networks and expertise in protection coordination and relay setting studies.
- Familiarity with protection logic diagrams and relay setting tools such as MiCOM Agile, PCM600, SEL AcSELerator.
- Good knowledge of industry standards and proficient in power system simulation and protection software.
- Ability to analyze fault performance and evaluate protection behavior under diverse network conditions.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong project and workload management capabilities ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postgraduate degree in Electrical Power Engineering.
- Experience with transmission-connected renewable energy projects.
- Competence in earthing design and safety assessment tools like CDEGS.
- Experience in electromagnetic interference (EMI), induction, or electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) analysis.
- Skills in electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation software such as PSCAD, EMTP-RV, ATP.
- Knowledge of protection requirements related to HVDC, FACTS, and converter-based resources.
- Programming skills in Python, DPL, VBA, or similar automation tools.
