About Primary Health Care Corporation and Role Purpose
Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) strives to lead the enhancement of health and wellbeing in Qatar by offering comprehensive, integrated, person-centered care focused on disease prevention and wellness. The Consultant for Pharmacy Competencies will serve as the subject matter expert within the Clinical Effectiveness Department, ensuring superior quality outcomes and adherence to clinical competency processes for pharmacists.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide expert technical guidance to the Director on clinical competence evaluations specific to the pharmacists’ category.
- Review and adapt competency evaluation checklists and assessment tools to fit PHCC’s pharmacy roles aligned with scope of practice.
- Plan, develop, and analyze clinical competency assessments, interpreting data and presenting findings to the Director of Clinical Effectiveness and the Clinical Competency Committee.
- Review evaluation results and deliver constructive feedback to the Director and competency team.
- Support planning stages with the Department Director and Project Manager including evaluator selection, tool preparation, and reporting.
- Lead discussions on developing or revising competency checklists, competency-based development plans, training monitoring, and status report preparation, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Participate actively in pharmacist competency assessments to improve evaluation effectiveness.
- Assist in creating action plans to address improvement opportunities in alignment with accreditation and national standards.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives applying PDCA methodology for continuous enhancement of competency evaluation processes.
- Maintain professional growth through participation in relevant meetings, seminars, and workshops.
- Utilize standards knowledge to identify and implement process improvements.
- Foster effective communication and teamwork within multidisciplinary teams and with pharmacists.
- Proactively address competency-related issues, identifying pharmacists needing improvement and facilitating competency-based development plans and trainings.
- Monitor and report on the progress of competency building initiatives.
- Exhibit diligence in patient safety by preemptively identifying potential risks and complying with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with line managers to recognize workplace risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure shared responsibility for implementation and evaluation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a postgraduate degree in Clinical Pharmacy, such as Doctor of Clinical Pharmacy or PhD.
- Hold certification or training as a Pharmacist Assessor or equivalent, and a DHP license as a Clinical Pharmacist.
- Bring at least seven years of relevant experience in a similar role within a reputable healthcare organization accredited by JCIA, Accreditation Canada, ACGME, or other national accreditation bodies.
