Consultant Paediatrician

About the Role

A leading hospital in Darwin is inviting applications for a Consultant Paediatrician to join their expanding Child Health Service. This role offers the chance to deliver comprehensive paediatric care in a geographically and clinically varied area, supporting urban, regional, and remote populations across the Northern Territory's Top End.

Key Duties

• Provide expert paediatric medical care to infants, children, and adolescents across multiple settings including an inpatient paediatric unit, Special Care Nursery with neonatal resuscitation, emergency consultations, outpatient and specialty clinics.
• Engage actively in an on-call roster covering paediatric emergencies and neonatal care.
• Participate in outreach services extending to rural and remote communities through both in-person visits and telehealth technologies.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams comprising medical staff, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure cohesive care delivery.
• Mentor and supervise registrars, junior medical staff, and students, contributing to clinical education.
• Support ongoing initiatives focused on quality improvement, governance, and service advancement.
• Deliver care that is culturally respectful and family-centred, with a strong focus on enhancing health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of FRACP qualification in General Paediatrics or an equivalent credential.
• Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Proven experience in acute paediatrics and competency in neonatal resuscitation.
• Demonstrated interest or background in Indigenous health as well as rural or remote paediatric practice is highly valued.
• Exhibits a culturally sensitive, adaptable, and cooperative approach to healthcare delivery.
• Commitment to teaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of clinical capacity.
• Motivated to work purposefully within a complex and diverse clinical environment.
