About the Role

As the Compliance Officer & Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) at Thndr based in Abu Dhabi, you will be integral to ensuring the company's adherence to all relevant regulatory and financial crime prevention standards. Acting as the main liaison with regulators and collaborating closely with the Board and Senior Executive Officer, you will manage regulatory risks through your expertise in UAE compliance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and update compliance policies and procedures tailored to the regulated industry environment.
  • Design and execute a risk-based compliance framework.
  • Perform trade surveillance and monitor transactions to detect compliance issues.
  • Provide ongoing regulatory advice and support to employees, senior executives, and the Board.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive compliance reports to the Board.
  • Maintain and enforce Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies and processes.
  • Supervise Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) activities.
  • Identify and analyze suspicious transactions; coordinate and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
  • Conduct AML training sessions and offer advisory services to staff.

Candidate Requirements

  • Established working relationships with FSRA or DFSA regulators, with proven experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory standards within the UAE financial landscape.
  • Between 4 to 6 years of compliance experience in regulated industries.
  • Preferred designation as an FSRA or DFSA-approved individual.
  • A bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, or related discipline.

Additional Desired Skills

  • Experience working in a Category 3A licensed financial firm.
  • Familiarity with ADGM Data Protection legislation.
  • Ability to use SQL for data analysis relating to compliance functions.
