Job description
Role Overview
Join Whānau Āwhina Plunket as a Community Karitāne in Dunedin, providing critical support to families with newborns and young children. This permanent, part-time position (0.6 FTE) focuses on promoting healthy lifestyles and assisting whānau through early parenting challenges.
Key Responsibilities
As a Karitāne, you will assist whānau by enhancing health outcomes through education and support, offering non-clinical assistance in collaboration with Plunket Nurses, Kaiāwhina, and other services. You will participate in both routine visits and community events, including occasional Saturday clinics planned in advance.
Candidate Profile
We value strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to provide reassurance to families. A passion for working with tamariki and their caregivers is essential. You will be encouraged to work independently while integrating effectively within a team to provide comprehensive support, including referrals and utilizing PlunketLine for 24/7 assistance.

Additional Requirements
- Eligible to work in New Zealand
- Willingness to complete the funded National Certificate in Tamariki Ora – Well Child Services programme
- Possession of a full, clean New Zealand driver’s license

Compensation
Salary ranges from $57,405 yearly ($29.05/hour) to $65,874 yearly ($33.32/hour), depending on experience.
