Overview

People First Consult is recruiting for a Communications Manager on behalf of a client operating in the beer and beverage industry based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Role Summary

The individual in this position will oversee all corporate communications, public and media relations, as well as stakeholder interaction efforts. They will provide strategic communications guidance to the CEO and executive team, enhance the company’s public image, and handle issues related to communication risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and execute the corporate communications and public relations strategy along with the yearly action plan.
  • Direct engagement with media and press, coordinate corporate announcements and public relations activities.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with government bodies, regulatory agencies, trade associations, and key stakeholders.
  • Guide efforts related to corporate reputation management and crisis communications.
  • Prepare executive communications including speeches, key messaging, and press materials.
  • Organize corporate events, stakeholder meetings, and initiatives to increase visibility.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Digital departments to integrate corporate messaging across platforms.
  • Track media coverage, public opinion, and potential reputational hazards.
  • Oversee public relations agencies, external communication vendors, and manage the communications budget.
  • Compile regular reports and dashboards on communications activities for leadership review.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • At least eight years’ experience in corporate communications, media relations, or similar roles.
  • Industry experience in FMCG, beverages, manufacturing, consumer goods, or within multinational corporations is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management, media representatives, government officials, and external partners.
