Role Overview
The Communication Manager role is full-time and remote, tasked with developing and managing internal and external communications to promote Gataama Group's mission. Responsibilities include creating communication strategies, supporting community engagement, ensuring consistent messaging, drafting and refining press releases, newsletters, social media updates, and website content. The role also involves coordinating virtual events and campaigns, maintaining relationships with media, partners, and community stakeholders, tracking communication metrics, reporting on impact, and suggesting improvements. Collaborating with program leaders, volunteers, and partners is central, alongside maintaining a respectful, inclusive tone.
Qualifications
- Expertise in strategic communications planning, campaign development, and audience engagement.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills tailored to digital and print media.
- Proficiency in social media management, digital content creation, and basic analytics.
- Experience engaging stakeholders and communities, managing partnerships and communications.
- Competence in project coordination, time management, and remote collaboration tools.
- A strong commitment to social justice, community development, and issues impacting African and diaspora populations is highly valued.
- Excellent intercultural communication skills and sensitivity to diverse perspectives.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, International Relations, or related disciplines.
- Prior work with nonprofits, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations, especially within globally distributed teams, is advantageous.
