Role Overview

The Commissioning Engineer will spearhead complex commissioning tasks on critical projects focusing on Building Management Systems (BMS), Emergency Power Management Systems (EPMS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This role requires expertise not only in field validation but also in identifying system issues, adjusting control logic, and ensuring seamless system integration throughout commissioning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities for BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA on mission-critical and data centre projects.
• Conduct thorough system validations including point-to-point verification, functional tests, and integrated systems testing.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot intricate issues across controls, networks, and field devices.
• Modify and optimize PLC logic and software interfaces such as SCADA and BMS during commissioning.
• Ensure cohesive integration between mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Validate control sequences under diverse operational conditions including failure and redundancy scenarios.
• Manage advanced commissioning levels (Level 3–5), including client demonstrations and approvals.
• Review design documents, control narratives, and software to confirm their accuracy relative to field implementation.
• Document commissioning processes thoroughly with test scripts, reports, and issue logs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align project scope, scheduling, and deliverables.
• Communicate proactively with internal departments, clients, and partners, escalating risks or changes early.
• Adhere strictly to company policies, quality management standards, and safety protocols.
• Maintain a rigorous focus on quality, detail, and continuous improvement of procedures and execution.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Automation, or related fields.
• At least five years of hands-on experience in commissioning, control engineering, or systems integration, preferably in mission-critical or data centre environments.
• Comprehensive understanding of BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA technologies, including brands like Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, and Schneider.
• Proven ability in developing/modifying PLC programs and SCADA/BMS interfaces during live projects.
• Solid grasp of electrical systems architecture, control designs, and networked system interactions.
• Strong diagnostic skills for software, hardware, and integrated systems issues.
• Experienced in commissioning protocols such as FAT, SAT, and IST across levels 1 to 5.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and ability to prioritize under pressure.
• Dedicated to quality, safety, and professional accountability.
• Ready to travel extensively (up to 75%) across Ireland, UK, Netherlands, Denmark, and Finland as needed.
