Commis I - Staff Cafeteria

Position Overview

As a Commis I at the staff cafeteria, you will be responsible for preparing special meals, substitutions, and cold foods while regulating cooking appliance temperatures such as ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Duties also include thawing frozen food safely, ensuring proper food portioning, garnish arrangement, maintaining food quality and quantity logs, and communicating with chefs and food and beverage staff regarding specials and menu availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food following recipes, quality, and presentation standards.
• Monitor and maintain food quality and portion control.
• Assist in communicating operational needs during busy service periods.
• Support management in staff hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching as a role model.
• Strictly follow company policies including safety, security, and hygiene standards.
• Report any maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Maintain professional appearance and confidentiality of company information.
• Anticipate and respond to guest service requirements professionally.
• Develop positive relationships with colleagues and collaborate to achieve team objectives.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Technical, Trade, or Vocational school diploma or degree required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in culinary or food preparation.
• No prior supervisory experience required.
• No specific licenses or certifications needed.
