Overview

Join Marriott International as a Commis 2 Cook in Kampala, Uganda. This full-time non-management position entails preparing and cooking food with attention to quality and safety standards, contributing to Marriott's renowned hospitality service.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare cooking ingredients by portioning, chopping, peeling, and washing fruits and vegetables.
• Measure, weigh and mix ingredients accurately to recipe specifications.
• Cook and prepare food using ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers while following quality and presentation standards.
• Conduct food testing to ensure proper cooking and monitor food quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and dismantle the workstation efficiently and serve food in accurate portions.
• Maintain cleanliness and disinfection of kitchen areas, tools, knives, and cooking equipment.
• Verify appliance and food temperatures meet established safety and quality criteria.
• Adhere strictly to company safety, security policies, and training requirements while reporting hazards or maintenance needs promptly.
• Maintain personal cleanliness, professional appearance, and confidentiality of company information.
• Communicate clearly and professionally with team members, fostering positive working relationships and collaboration towards shared objectives.
• Comply with physical demands including standing, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting objects up to 25 pounds, and other tasks as required.
• Perform additional reasonable job duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• A minimum of one year relevant experience in food preparation or culinary roles.
• No supervisory experience required.
• No specific licenses or certifications necessary.
