Commercial Estimator

Overview

The Commercial Estimator role focuses on preparing estimates for type 3 and type 5 wood frame multi-story multi-family construction projects. This position requires collaboration with contractors and their clients to support the estimating process and ensure all plans are prepared within agreed timelines. Attention to detail and experience with manual or approved software estimating methods are essential. Additional duties include assisting with daily store operations as directed by the Store Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed material lists tailored for installed sales purposes.
• Contribute to material usage tracking alongside estimating tasks.
• Prepare detailed scopes of work for subcontracted labor.
• Read architectural and construction plans and generate corresponding estimates.
• Engage with customers for meetings or to accommodate changes in estimates or plans.
• Perform various store-related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

• Exhibit sound judgment and discretion in work processes.
• Capable of reviewing architectural drawings to estimate costs related to wood materials and labor.
• Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business reports, technical documents, and applicable regulations.
• Strong written communication skills for reports, correspondence, and procedure documentation.
• Effective oral communication for presentations and addressing questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Problem-solving abilities to manage practical issues with limited standardization, interpreting instructions across various formats including written, oral, diagrams, and schedules.
• Familiarity with word processing software, inventory management programs, and spreadsheet applications.
