About the Role

Thrace Synthetic Packaging Ltd., a leading manufacturer of Injection Moulded Rigid Packaging located in Clara, Co. Offaly, Ireland, and part of the Thrace Group headquartered in Greece, is seeking an experienced Commercial Director. The business serves markets in Ireland, the UK, and Western Europe, and also distributes technical fabrics for construction and industrial packaging products.

The Commercial Director will join the management team with full Profit & Loss accountability for the Irish operation. The ideal candidate will bring at least a decade of expertise in sales, finance, and strategy, preferably within manufacturing, packaging, or food sectors. They should possess a practical, results-driven approach to business growth and have significant experience managing P&L responsibilities due to their sales background in production-related industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new commercial opportunities leveraging Thrace’s manufacturing capabilities and broad product portfolio.
  • Lead sales and marketing efforts to accelerate company growth.
  • Monitor market trends and conditions to provide informed strategic advice to the board.
  • Promote and expand the company’s commercial footprint to achieve sustainable revenue growth.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company's cultural values and environmental and social governance principles.
  • Manage relationships with various stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, colleagues, shareholders, and the local community.
  • Oversee coordination among production, marketing, sales, and other teams to align on commercial objectives.
  • Track and report commercial performance using relevant metrics to senior management.
  • Assist in setting financial targets, budget planning, and continual monitoring.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years’ demonstrated success in sales and commercial roles in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in business administration, finance, or a related field; a Master’s degree is considered an advantage.
  • Experience in ERP and CRM systems is essential.
  • Proven history in managing P&L and understanding financial performance reporting and budgeting processes.
  • Experience in human resources, colleague assessment, and development is valued.
