Role Overview

Under the supervision of the Energy Services Manager, the CNG Business Executive is tasked with managing daily operations and spearheading business growth within the compressed natural gas sector. This role aims to capitalize on the growing CNG fuel market in Ireland by expanding new refueling stations, enhancing the client base, forging strategic partnerships, and exploring new revenue streams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Energy Services Manager to develop and expand the CNG business line.
  • Coordinate across various departments to ensure smooth integration and optimization of business processes.
  • Engage with external partners to facilitate efficient development and operational success.
  • Drive customer growth via partnerships and service enhancements.
  • Manage and nurture existing contracts while pursuing business growth for additional locations.
  • Coordinate with operational teams to guarantee effective site and contract management.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities and contracts, particularly with logistics companies utilizing Flogas and partner stations.
  • Contribute to business case preparation and financial modelling for prospective and existing sites.
  • Engage with external stakeholders—including design teams, network operators, landowners, safety consultants, and equipment providers—to support new infrastructure projects.
  • Develop commercial propositions in partnership with the commercial team to uncover further opportunities.
  • Assist in staff training on updated internal processes, document these processes, promote safety reporting, comply with regulations, and track key performance indicators.
  • Support business growth through active engagement with customers and transport hauliers.
  • Prepare reports on contract management, financial turnover, margins, billing, process improvements, and business development activities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, helping define growth vision and assisting in execution of development plans for the CNG business.

Operational & Contract Management

  • Support management of current CNG contracts and commercial arrangements.
  • Ensure efficient functioning of sites and contracts by cooperating with cross-functional teams.
  • Integrate the CNG business effectively within the wider organization.
  • Develop, document, consolidate, and continuously enhance operational and commercial workflows.
  • Facilitate staff training related to procedural updates.
  • Assist with safety reporting, compliance, and governance requirements relevant to CNG operations.

Performance & Strategy

  • Monitor and report KPIs such as contract performance, turnover, margin, billing, site use, and operational improvements.
  • Create and maintain appropriate metrics to effectively manage the business.
  • Provide insights to aid commercial and operational decisions.
  • Participate in formulating long-term strategic goals and growth plans.
  • Contribute to implementation of business unit growth strategies alongside the Energy Services team.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in fields such as Business, Commerce, Engineering, Energy, Finance, or Project Management.
  • Between 3 and 5 years of relevant experience in business development, commercial management, energy, infrastructure, transport, engineering, or utilities.
  • Proven experience in commercial/business development roles focusing on revenue, margin, and customer expansion.
  • Established ability in managing relationships with clients, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen and numerical skills, with experience in business cases, financial analysis, pricing, or commercial evaluation.
  • Capacity to coordinate multiple stakeholders across commercial, operational, and project functions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with strong project coordination skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Experienced in analyzing business performance and preparing KPI and managerial reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Holds a full clean driving license and flexible to travel as needed to customer and project sites.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous work experience in energy, gas, renewables, transport, logistics, infrastructure, or utilities sectors.
  • Familiarity with CNG, Bio-CNG, biomethane, or alternative fuels is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience liaising with logistics firms, fleet operators, hauliers, or transport-related clients.
  • Exposure to infrastructure projects involving engineers, network operators, landowners, and equipment suppliers.
  • Support of capital investment and infrastructure business case preparation.
  • Knowledge of health & safety and regulatory compliance in energy or infrastructure.
  • Track record in contributing to business development or growth initiatives in emerging business units.

Personal Attributes

The ideal candidate is commercially oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing responsibilities across business development, commercial evaluation, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery. Technical expertise in CNG is not required initially, but a strong commercial mindset and collaboration skills with technical specialists are essential. This position suits candidates with 3–5 years’ experience who are eager to assume more responsibility in a growing business area alongside strategic leadership.
