Job description
About the Role
Our client in Dudley delivers reactive and planned mechanical engineering services across diverse sectors such as food, automotive, and nuclear. They are currently expanding and in need of skilled and motivated CNC Turners.
Working Hours
- Standard day shifts: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Flexible night shifts: 4-day work week, Monday to Thursday from either 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM or 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM
- Includes a shift allowance of 25%
Key Responsibilities
- Program, setup, and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision parts as per engineering drawings and specifications
- Apply skills in reverse engineering and repairs across medium to heavy manufacturing environments
- Evaluate repair projects to determine optimal work holding and machining techniques
- Select appropriate cutting tools, adjust tooling offsets, and fine-tune machine settings for optimal output
- Interpret and modify CNC programming to enhance machining efficiency and reduce cycle times
- Carry out routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot to minimize downtime
- Conduct quality inspections using precision measurement tools to ensure compliance with specified dimensions and tolerances
- Follow safety standards and maintain a tidy and orderly workspace
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a CNC Turner with expertise in programming, setup, and operation of CNC lathes
- Competency in using XYZ Prototrak or Siemens CNC controls (other systems will be evaluated)
- Solid understanding of machining principles, tooling choices, and cutting parameter settings
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T symbols
- Meticulous attention to detail and dedication to high-quality output
- Effective problem-solving skills and capability to independently resolve technical issues
- Strong communication abilities and team collaboration skills
