Job description
About the Role
Air Q Limited is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer Engineer to oversee multi-axis CNC programming and machining activities, particularly focusing on the precise manufacture of UAV structures and parts. The candidate will bring at least five years of expertise in Mastercam multi-axis programming (covering 3, 4, and 5-axis machining) and be skilled in SolidWorks CAD, Siemens 840D and Siemens ONE CNC controls, as well as designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
Responsibilities
- Lead CNC programming for advanced 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers, ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
- Create, validate, and refine complex CAD/CAM programs using Mastercam for precision machining of metallic and composite UAV components.
- Conduct production planning to estimate machining cycle times, identify bottlenecks, and improve throughput.
- Design and develop durable jigs, fixtures, and tooling solutions to improve accuracy and repeatability in metallic and composite machining.
- Select appropriate materials, cutting tools, tool paths, and machining parameters to meet quality, cost, and productivity goals.
- Maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation such as setup sheets, tooling requirements, machining instructions, and process standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to CNC operators, ensuring correct machine setup, process control, and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with Design, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth transition from prototype to production.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts targeting machining performance, process capability, quality, waste reduction, and cost optimization.
- Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, safety regulations, quality standards, and best practices throughout machining activities.
Skills and Experience
- At least five years of hands-on experience with Mastercam multiaxis programming.
- Proficient in SolidWorks CAD, including jig, fixture, and tooling development.
- Expertise in selecting cutting tools suitable for a variety of materials and machining scenarios.
- Ability to optimize cutting parameters and machining conditions to maximize efficiency, precision, and tool life.
- Experienced in programming and operating Siemens 840D and Siemens ONE CNC controls, including setup and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of touch probe programming including machine calibration and in-process/final inspection processes.
- Good understanding of CNC machine maintenance, preventive care, and health monitoring.
- Competent in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
- Track record of machining complex, high-precision components meeting stringent quality standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills to enhance machining processes, reduce cycle times, and improve overall production efficiency.
- Capable of working independently to support production, engineering, and shop-floor operations effectively.
