CNC Programmer

Job Overview

We seek an adept CNC Programmer Cum Operator responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to precisely manufacture components according to engineering blueprints. The role demands process optimization, quality assurance, and meeting production goals safely and efficiently within a manufacturing setting.

Primary Duties

• Interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and technical specs accurately.
• Develop CNC programs for milling and turning tasks by employing CAM software or manual coding approaches.
• Prepare CNC equipment including fixture setup, tooling installation, and loading of workpieces.
• Run CNC machines and supervise operations ensuring dimensional precision.
• Choose suitable cutting tools, speeds, and feeds relevant to the materials and machining needs.
• Conduct first-piece inspections and in-process quality verifications utilizing precision measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Identify and solve programming or machining issues promptly to reduce downtime.
• Enhance cycle efficiency while safeguarding product quality.
• Carry out routine maintenance and keep machinery clean and functional.
• Maintain comprehensive production documentation, tool usage logs, and program archives.
• Adhere to 5S principles, safety protocols, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with design, quality control, and production teams to address technical challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

• ITI certification in Machinist/Turner or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• CNC programming certification is beneficial.
• 2 to 5 years of experience programming and operating CNC machines in precision manufacturing.
• Exposure to Vertical Machining Centers (VMC), Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC), and CNC Turning Centers.
• Familiarity with CNC controllers by Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Haas is advantageous.

Technical Competencies

• Strong command over CNC programming languages including G-Code and M-Code.
• Practical knowledge of CNC milling and turning operations.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Understanding of tooling systems, cutting tools, and work-holding methods.
• Experience with CAM software platforms such as Mastercam, SolidCAM, NX CAM, or Fusion 360 is preferred.
• Proficient with machining parameters and process optimization techniques.
• Competency in using precision measurement instruments.
• Basic understanding of preventative maintenance procedures.

Working Conditions

This role operates primarily on the shop floor within a manufacturing environment requiring flexibility to work in rotating shifts and additional hours as necessary.
