About the Role
We are seeking a Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Engineer to manage and support enterprise backup and recovery systems, ensuring high availability and robust performance. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining backup solutions across various environments, and collaborating with vendors and internal teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, and support enterprise backup and recovery platforms to maintain optimal uptime and successful backup operations.
- Conduct comprehensive troubleshooting for backup failures, restoration requests, and infrastructure-related issues across server, storage, and networking components.
- Analyze backup data flows from client systems to storage targets, confirming the health of Data Domain appliances, hardware status, storage throughput, and network connectivity.
- Oversee backup operations using Dell PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM) and Avamar platforms.
- Deploy, configure, and sustain backup solutions for physical servers, virtual machines, NAS workloads, and Kubernetes clusters.
- Liaise with technology vendors and internal engineering teams to troubleshoot incidents, drive root cause analysis, and implement lasting fixes.
- Support infrastructure updates including patching, upgrades, capacity planning, and technology refresh projects.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), knowledge base articles, and system configurations.
- Engage in incident, problem, and change management activities adhering to ITIL best practices.
- Deliver technical assistance to customers and stakeholders while maintaining service quality and operational excellence.
Required Skills and Technologies
- Expertise in backup and recovery solutions such as Dell NetWorker, Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Cohesity, Rubrik, Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, and Avamar.
- Proficient knowledge of backup architectures, disaster recovery planning, and data protection standards.
- Experience working with storage infrastructure including Data Domain Appliances, SAN Storage, enterprise storage platforms like Dell PowerStore and Isilon.
- Familiarity with virtualization and cloud platforms including VMware vSphere, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, VLAN configuration, network switches, and storage connectivity.
