Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Coder who desires flexible working options, including remote work from anywhere across Australia or from private hospital locations. The successful candidate will assign precise and prompt clinical codes to patient care episodes at St Vincent's Private Hospital Northside. This will involve analyzing patient documentation and applying the latest ICD10AM codes along with Australian Coding Standards and relevant State coding guidance. Ongoing participation in training, education sessions, and audits is expected.

About the Hospital

St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside employs over 1,000 dedicated staff and services close to 35,000 patients annually. The hospital features 227 beds, 9 operating theatres, 2 cardiac catheter labs, a 17-bed ICU, plus specialized units such as Day Oncology, Breast Health, Endoscopy, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and a 24-hour emergency center provided by Brisbane Northside Emergency.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Applied Science (Health Information Management) or equivalent clinical coding qualification recognized by HIMAA or similar
  • Proven experience of at least two years in clinical coding, with demonstrated expertise in coding varied DRGs
  • Proficiency in ICD 10 AM coding standards and Australian Coding Guidelines
  • Familiarity with 3M Codefinder software
  • Commitment to participating in ongoing quality assurance and performance improvement activities
