About the Role
Alexandra Hospital in Singapore is seeking a Clinical Coder to join their team onsite within the hospitals and healthcare sector. The role primarily involves interpreting medical records and performing Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) coding for inpatient discharges and procedures from Day Surgery, Dental, and Endoscopy services. Accuracy and timely completion are key responsibilities, along with liaising with doctors and healthcare professionals on coding matters and assisting with administrative tasks within the clinical coding department.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete DRG coding for all inpatient and day surgery discharges ensuring timely submission to the Ministry of Health (MOH).
- Maintain coding turnaround time standards by achieving 100% case mix coding completion within 14 days with an error rate below 4%.
- Clarify doubtful cases with clinicians and address any incomplete or missing medical records necessary for proper DRG coding.
- Support CPFB and insurance companies by providing accurate DRG codes and clarifications within specified timeframes.
- Perform internal audits of coded cases to uphold coding accuracy and ensure compliance with coding procedures and standards among clinical coders.
Additional Duties
Undertake any ad-hoc projects or responsibilities assigned by the department Manager as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess a Foreign MBBS, Nursing, Healthcare qualification, or Diploma in Nursing or an equivalent credential.
- Preferably at least 1 year of hospital coding experience.
- Detail-oriented, capable of working independently, and a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Well-versed in ICD-10-CM coding standards.
