Cleaning Attendant

About The Role

The American University in the Emirates (AUE) is looking for a dedicated and reliable Cleaning Attendant who will help maintain a hygienic, safe, and welcoming atmosphere across the campus. This includes ensuring cleanliness in classrooms, offices, hallways, common spaces, restrooms, and other campus facilities in line with defined standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning and upkeep of classrooms, offices, corridors, stairways, and multiple university spaces, maintaining a hygienic environment.
• Regular cleaning and sanitization of restrooms and washrooms, ensuring they are well-stocked.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and other surfaces using proper cleaning techniques and equipment.
• Empty trash bins and dispose of waste and recyclables following university protocols.
• Clean and disinfect high-contact surfaces such as doors, handles, desks, and tables.
• Maintain cleanliness of furniture, fixtures, glass, windows, pantries, staff areas, and other assigned locations.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and hygiene materials like tissue, soap, and hand sanitizers.
• Monitor cleaning equipment and materials; report any shortage or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
• Use cleaning chemicals and tools safely in accordance with established guidelines.
• Assist with preparation and cleanup before and after university events, meetings, and activities.
• Help with moving or rearranging furniture and equipment as needed for cleaning or events.
• Identify and report maintenance, safety hazards, damages, or other concerns discovered during cleaning.
• Maintain assigned areas consistently clean and orderly throughout working hours.
• Adhere to all university policies concerning health, safety, hygiene, and security.
• Perform additional cleaning tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
• Experience of 1 to 3 years in cleaning, housekeeping, or similar roles.
• Previous employment at universities, schools, hotels, hospitals, offices, or other institutions is advantageous.

• Flexible to work varying shifts including weekends or event days.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to follow instructions and coordinate effectively.
• Adherence to university guidelines and supervisor directions.

Working Conditions

This position involves moving around different campus areas, engaging in physical activities such as standing and walking for prolonged periods. The role might require shift work including weekends or during special university events.

Salary and Benefits

• Monthly salary of AED 1,500 along with accommodation and transportation provided.
