Job Overview
As a Cleaner under supervision, you will join a team responsible for maintaining cleanliness within designated areas of educational premises. Your main role includes performing varied cleaning tasks using appropriate equipment and materials to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
Key Duties
- Sweeping, suction cleaning, mopping, dry buffing, spray cleaning, waxing, machine scrubbing, stripping, and re-polishing floors as required.
- Removing stains and cleaning carpets and mats using suitable cleaning methods.
- Cleaning toilet and shower facilities thoroughly, including all fixtures and fittings.
- Washing and dusting surfaces, including ledges, walls, furniture, and internal fixtures up to a height of 3.35 meters.
- Emptying and cleaning internal litter bins and disposing of waste appropriately.
Working Conditions and Compliance
- Adherence to health and safety regulations including the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978, COSHH regulations, and relevant Codes of Practice.
- Wearing protective clothing and flat-soled enclosed toe footwear during cleaning duties.
- Proper use, care, and immediate reporting of any defects in cleaning equipment.
- Completing all necessary paperwork related to cleaning operations.
- Supporting colleagues by covering sick leave as per organizational procedures and reporting absences through proper channels.
- Performing duties within competence, which may include tasks in the same grade.
Training and Development
- Participation in induction and refresher training programmes to develop skills and perform duties up to and including your grade.
- Potential training for higher-level duties with payment applicable if higher responsibility tasks are assigned.
