About Decentralised Energy Limited
Decentralised Energy Limited (DEL) is an independent Nigerian power company supplying reliable electricity to commercial and industrial clients in Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States. We operate embedded gas-engine power plants along with private electricity distribution networks. We are currently scaling our internal technical organization and seeking a Chief Technology Officer to guide this critical initiative.
Role Overview
The CTO role reports directly to the CEO and participates as a key member of the Executive Management team. This leadership position oversees all technical functions, including power generation, plant maintenance, and management of private distribution networks. The primary mission is to elevate technical standards, operational excellence, and safety performance to meet shareholder expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement the technical strategy of DEL.
- Ensure operational plants maintain high availability and operational efficiency.
- Design and implement a preventative maintenance program based on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) overhaul schedules.
- Drive a safety-first culture with zero tolerance for complacency.
- Promote a culture prioritizing reliability through disciplined maintenance regimes.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor the technical team, including developing a future successor.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of an Engineering degree; an MBA or equivalent qualification is advantageous.
- Over 20 years of experience in the power or energy industry, including a minimum of 7 years in senior leadership roles.
- Direct, hands-on expertise with gas-fired reciprocating engine power generation.
- Experience working with embedded generation or private distribution networks is beneficial.
- Proven success in change management and Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) systems deployment.
- Strong technical and commercial insight, including experience with profit and loss responsibility.
