Role Overview

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is a full-time remote leadership position entrusted with formulating and directing the company’s comprehensive security strategy. Responsibilities include steering information security, managing cybersecurity risks, and overseeing compliance efforts across products, infrastructure, and business activities. On a daily basis, the CSO updates security policies, monitors the organization's security posture, coordinates responses to security incidents, and partners with engineering and product teams to ensure security is integrated by design.

Additional duties involve conducting periodic risk evaluations, directing security audits, and delivering executive reports on security threats, vulnerabilities, and remediation plans. The CSO is also tasked with assembling and guiding a security team, spearheading security awareness campaigns, and ensuring regulatory and industry standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in managing information security, cybersecurity strategy, and conducting risk assessments.
• Experience developing security governance, policies, and conforming to regulatory standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, or similar frameworks.
• Skilled in security operations, incident response, and threat monitoring utilizing current tools and best practices.
• Collaborative experience with engineering and product teams on secure system architecture, secure coding standards, and vulnerability remediation.
• Demonstrated executive-level leadership and communication skills, capable of articulating security strategies and risks to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Extensive background in senior security leadership roles, ideally as CSO, CISO, or equivalent within tech-oriented companies.
• Academic credentials including a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
• Valuable certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CCSP.
• Proven capability to operate effectively in a remote, distributed team environment and manage cross-functional security initiatives.
