Role Overview

The position of Chief LLM Architect Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC. The primary responsibility is to architect and lead the development of large language model (LLM) solutions powering TravelFlap’s AI-enhanced travel services. The role includes defining the technical direction for LLMs, vision language models (VLM), and related AI technologies encompassing model selection, training workflows, system deployment, and integrating these with the company’s SaaS and white-label platforms.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively across product, data, and engineering teams to convert business needs into effective AI services that are scalable, reliable, and compliant with security standards. Daily responsibilities include evaluating system designs, guiding engineering teams, managing cross-functional initiatives, directing technical roadmaps, and continuously scanning emerging AI technologies to improve customer experiences.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Expertise in designing scalable, secure, and highly available AI and LLM architectures along with cloud-native infrastructure.
  • Proven skills in project management for delivering complex AI and software projects on schedule and within defined criteria.
  • Preferred experience working alongside civil engineering and construction sectors to incorporate AI solutions into infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration abilities to lead multidisciplinary engineering groups and partner effectively with product, data, and business stakeholders.
  • In-depth practical experience with LLMs, NLP frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow, and MLOps tools and methodologies.
  • Advanced programming skills in modern languages such as Python, Go, or Java, with familiarity in microservices architecture and API development.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, data engineering practices, and performance tuning for real-time, customer-centric applications.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI/ML, or a comparable technical discipline; equivalent work experience is also considered.
