Job description
About the Role
The Department of Human Services (DHS) in South Australia is seeking a Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO) to lead enterprise-wide digital, data, technology, and cybersecurity initiatives. This position, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, is a strategic leadership role focused on guiding the organisation through significant transformation and enhancing how services are delivered across South Australia.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide enterprise leadership over areas including ICT applications, digital solutions, information security and cyber risk, technology governance and assurance, ICT operations, data analytics, and reporting.
- Drive enterprise transformation by modernising services, platforms, and ways of working.
- Identify and implement AI and emerging technologies that deliver significant organisational value.
- Strengthen cybersecurity measures, resilience, and ensure service continuity.
- Oversee enterprise architecture to align technology investments with long-term business strategies.
- Offer strategic oversight on major platforms like Dynamics and Salesforce.
- Manage investment and commercial aspects, prioritising technology spend, controlling rising costs, and maximising value.
Leadership and Collaboration
This senior leadership role involves managing a large, diverse, and multicultural technology team composed of specialists with varying priorities. Success requires uniting teams under a common strategic vision, empowering senior leaders, and fostering strong relationships throughout the technology function and the wider organisation. The CDIO is expected to act as an enterprise executive integrating technology with organisational objectives rather than functioning in isolation.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an accomplished executive with experience navigating complex organisations, which may include government, large enterprises, or highly regulated sectors. They possess sufficient technological knowledge to support and challenge technical leaders but excel in bridging people, strategy, investment, and technology for the organisation's benefit.
