About the Opportunity
Pearse Portfolio is conducting a confidential search for a highly experienced Strategic Chief Financial Officer to join a well-established infrastructure company located in Dublin, Ireland. This senior finance leadership role requires an individual who combines deep financial expertise with strong commercial insight and a wide business perspective.
Role Overview
The CFO will collaborate closely with the CEO and other senior leaders to shape business priorities, critically assess strategies, and ensure that strategic decisions translate into practical results. This position is ideal for a senior finance professional comfortable with balancing strategic planning and operational execution while possessing the influence to drive outcomes beyond the finance department and significantly shape the broader business direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the CEO and executive team on business performance and strategic priorities.
- Provide objective challenge by introducing clear financial and commercial viewpoints during key decision-making processes.
- Contribute to developing business plans, prioritizing investments, and managing capital allocation.
- Evaluate strategic opportunities such as acquisitions and other corporate development initiatives.
- Identify and implement improvements in profitability, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Enhance financial insights by leveraging performance data to support better business decisions.
- Support major organizational changes, transformation, and growth initiatives from strategic conception through execution.
- Engage actively with the Board and senior stakeholders on company performance, strategic priorities, and long-term planning.
- Lead and develop the Finance team while maintaining a strong focus on the broader business context.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive senior finance leadership experience, such as CFO, Finance Director, Divisional CFO, or VP Finance roles.
- Proven track record influencing business strategy and decision-making at senior levels beyond traditional finance functions.
- Experience overseeing major transformation projects, cost reduction programs, and initiatives to enhance business performance.
- Strong commercial acumen with a clear understanding of operational business drivers.
- Confidence and credibility to constructively challenge CEOs, Boards, and senior stakeholders.
- Pragmatic leadership approach, blending strategic mindset with hands-on execution capabilities.
- Prior experience in sectors like infrastructure, technology, energy, or utilities—particularly complex and capital-intensive industries—is beneficial.
- Background in mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, corporate finance, or transaction roles is desirable, especially when combined with substantial operational and finance leadership experience.
