Chief Engineer

About the Role and Location

The Chief Engineer position is based at Anantara Mina Al Arab Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations concerning fire safety, health, and licensing while supplying necessary safety tools to enable efficient and secure work.
• Oversee planning and management of preventative maintenance, new construction projects, facility extensions, and refurbishments.
• Continuously monitor energy consumption within the hotel and implement strategies to reduce energy costs.
• Prepare the department's engineering budget and contribute to the hotel's strategic and operational planning processes.
• Collaborate with People & Culture (P&C) teams regarding employee recruitment, interviews, and workforce management.
• Manage departmental payroll and control all engineering-related expenditures.
• Provide in-house mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs, and servicing with a competent, well-presented team ensuring minimal guest disruption.
• Conduct ongoing inspections to maintain highest guest comfort levels and ensure all hotel facilities function properly.
• Prioritize and efficiently address all maintenance work orders and requests.
• Develop and maintain a skilled, cooperative technical team to uphold all maintenance and repairs according to technical standards.
• Serve as Project Manager coordinating between the hotel and external contractors or technical service providers for major engineering projects.
• Engage in ongoing professional development by attending relevant seminars, exhibitions, and reviewing pertinent technical literature.

Qualifications and Experience

• Fluency in English, along with proficiency in the local language, is essential.
• Preferred qualification is certification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of five years’ experience working within a hotel engineering department is required.
• Strong familiarity with operations and priorities of other hotel departments is necessary to ensure smooth collaboration.
