Job description

Role Purpose

Yomali Group operates five rapidly expanding businesses spanning ecommerce, fintech, and BPO sectors. The group currently lacks a unified, trusted dataset, with inconsistent metrics reporting across companies. This role is designed to establish and lead Yomali's inaugural central data function, reporting directly to the Group CFO, emphasizing business-driven data governance rather than pure technology management. The objective is to ensure that leaders across all companies make decisions based on reliable and consistently defined data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive audit on data collection, storage, and reporting across the five businesses.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of a centralized Group data warehouse using Microsoft Fabric, integrating systems like HubSpot, HiBob, and Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Develop and enforce data governance policies, defining a standardized set of KPIs adopted group-wide.
  • Implement automated Power BI reports to provide clear performance insights at both company and group levels.
  • Lead and grow a data team consisting initially of three analysts and a Data Architect to be recruited.
  • Transition from foundational data infrastructure development to strategic data utilization, aiding leadership in recognizing unseen opportunities and challenges.

Success Milestones

  • Within 30 days: Complete stakeholder interviews across businesses, audit current data landscape, and identify key issues.
  • Within 90 days: Finalize governance frameworks and KPI definitions; secure approval of warehouse architecture.
  • Within 12 months: Launch the data warehouse, ensuring all companies report from a single validated source trusted by leadership.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience establishing a data function from the ground up, beyond managing existing setups.
  • Experience operating across multiple entities or business units.
  • Hands-on expertise in data governance, successfully standardizing metrics across reluctant teams.
  • Technical proficiency to lead and approve architectural decisions without direct implementation.
  • Strong influencing and change management capabilities to secure buy-in from senior executives without relying on formal authority.
  • Comfortable leading within a fully remote, distributed corporate environment.
  • Desirable: Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or backgrounds in ecommerce, fintech, or BPO sectors.

Ideal Traits

The ideal candidate is methodical in auditing before designing, thrives amid ambiguity, and acts swiftly without compromising quality. They communicate the rationale behind decisions and embrace data truths, even if they reveal difficult realities. They possess the judgement and resolve to maintain consistent definitions that may challenge some business units.

Why Join Yomali?

This founder-led business offers genuine autonomy and swift decision-making with no bureaucracy. Impact is visible across multiple businesses concurrently, with direct access to group leadership. Managers trust their teams, challenge ideas, and provide support when needed.

Benefits

  • A real opportunity to build a data function with executive endorsement.
  • Ownership of data standards, architecture, and team structure.
  • Utilization of a modern Microsoft technology stack with no legacy systems to untangle.
  • A clear career progression path from builder to strategic business partner.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Fully remote working environment.

Recruitment Process

  • Initial screening with Talent Acquisition.
  • Interview with the Group CFO.
  • Case study discussion focusing on the approach to the first 90 days.
  • Final interview with Group leadership team.
