About the Role
Paradiso Bar and Grill, located at 213–215 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East VIC, is looking to hire a skilled and enthusiastic Chef to join their full-time kitchen staff. This role demands overseeing various kitchen tasks including food preparation, cooking, presentation, and ensuring stringent food safety and hygiene standards.
Key Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items, maintaining the restaurant's culinary standards and consistency in presentation and quality.
- Contribute to menu planning efforts, including recipe creation and seasonal menu updates.
- Carry out ingredient preparation activities such as slicing, marinating, portioning, and seasoning.
- Operate kitchen appliances safely and effectively.
- Monitor food quality, portions, and presentation continually.
- Ensure food preparation and serving occur within set time limits.
- Sustain exemplary food hygiene and cleanliness in line with Australian food safety regulations.
- Check ingredient freshness and quality prior to use.
- Maintain proper food storage with correct stock rotation practices.
- Support inventory tasks such as ordering and receiving supplies.
- Manage stock levels to reduce food waste.
- Keep the kitchen environment clean, organized, and safe.
- Clean and maintain kitchen tools and workspace regularly.
- Collaborate actively with both kitchen and service staff.
- Assist in training and supervising junior kitchen team members when necessary.
- Ensure cooking times and temperatures comply with safety and quality standards.
- Participate in kitchen opening and closing routines.
- Adhere to company operational policies and procedures.
- Perform additional reasonable duties assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a higher equivalent qualification recognised in Australia.
- Proven experience in a commercial kitchen setting as a Chef.
- Strong expertise in food preparation methods, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety and hygienic standards.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging kitchen environment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to independently manage kitchen responsibilities.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Salary
