About the Role
Join the Hyatt Centric, Starman Restaurant in Cambridge as a Chef De Partie, where you will oversee your designated kitchen section, crafting and delivering top-quality dishes while contributing to the smooth functioning of the kitchen. You will work closely alongside your colleagues to ensure exceptional culinary experiences, uphold food safety and quality standards, and help mentor more junior kitchen staff. Key Responsibilities
- Consistently prepare and present high-quality dishes with creativity, attention to detail, and excellence.
- Take charge of kitchen operations in the absence of the Sous Chef when required, ensuring smooth workflow.
- Efficiently manage your kitchen section, including responsibilities such as stock control, handling deliveries, food rotation, and reducing waste.
- Maintain rigorous standards of food safety, hygiene, allergen control, and overall kitchen compliance.
- Keep all kitchen areas, equipment, and storage spaces clean, well-organized, and ready for service.
- Adapt to guests’ special requests and collaborate with the team to deliver outstanding dining experiences.
- Work harmoniously across hotel departments to support events and business requirements, while fostering a positive and high-performing kitchen culture.
- Uphold the brand’s standards, health and safety policies, and operational excellence on a daily basis.
Candidate Profile
- Strong foundational cooking skills utilizing fresh ingredients and diverse international cuisine styles.
- Ability to consistently deliver food with great quality and presentation.
- Effective organizational and time management abilities.
- A cooperative team player with a sense of community spirit.
- Basic grasp of kitchen cost control and managing food waste.
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, pressure-heavy kitchen setting.
- Professional approach marked by honesty, integrity, and customer focus.
Experience & Qualifications
- At least 2 years’ experience working in high-volume hotels, brasseries, or restaurants.
- Preferably holds a basic culinary qualification or certificate in Culinary Arts.
- Experience as part of a professional kitchen team and familiarity with operational kitchen procedures.
- Knowledge of stock management within a kitchen environment.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Email, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is advantageous.
