Role Overview

We are seeking a commercially driven Category Manager to lead and expand our Commercial portfolio, encompassing Protective Coatings, Textures, and Specialised Construction Products. In this role, you will shape portfolio strategy, uncover growth prospects, and spearhead the introduction of new products and initiatives across New Zealand.

Collaborating closely with both domestic and Australian partners, you will influence the evolution of our commercial product line while working hand-in-hand with technical, sales, and operational teams to achieve strong business results. This position can be located in Auckland or Wellington.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and develop a varied commercial product portfolio.
  • Recognise and evaluate market opportunities within New Zealand.
  • Create business cases and facilitate new product development and launches.
  • Conduct portfolio reviews, manage product lifecycles, and drive profitability efforts.
  • Collaborate with sales, technical, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Utilise data-driven commercial insights to enhance product performance.
  • Work closely with Australian category and marketing departments.
  • Assist in preparing customer-focused technical and product documentation.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have background experience in category management, product management, or commercial marketing, thriving in settings where strategic commercial thinking, collaboration, and influence are key.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in category management, product management or commercial marketing roles.
  • Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Background in creating business cases and growth strategies.
  • Exceptional ability to manage stakeholders and influence outcomes.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building expertise.
  • A tertiary degree in Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Experience with building products, construction materials, paints, coatings, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with technically complex products and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Proven success in developing and executing category growth plans.
  • Experience in managing product lifecycle and new product development processes.
