Job Overview
The Cart Clerk primarily collects shopping carts from the parking lot and store areas, ensuring a welcoming and helpful environment for customers and coworkers. The role involves manual cart retrieval and using remote-controlled equipment alongside maintaining store cleanliness and recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome, assist, and thank customers while promoting a positive and helpful atmosphere.
- Collect and organize carts manually and with remote-controlled machines, including stray carts inside the store.
- Maintain cleanliness by picking up litter around the store and cart rooms.
- Empty recycling containers (glass, aluminum, plastic) into the correct bins and stack bins for collection.
- Perform related tasks as assigned to support store operations.
Qualifications and Physical Requirements
- Deliver consistent, courteous service to customers and colleagues.
- Be available for varied shifts between 7:00 am and 11:00 pm, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capable of walking, pushing, pulling, and handling carts up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to bend, reach, stand, and move quickly for extended periods.
- Work effectively outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Stay alert to surroundings for safety, especially in parking areas.
- Lift up to 40 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally from floor to waist height.
- Wear required reflective safety vests during outdoor duties.
- Minimum age requirement is 16 years or older.
- Possession of Food Handler's Certification as required by state law.
