About the Role
Equans is seeking a dedicated Caretaker for Blackburn Central High School (BB2 3HJ) on a permanent full-time basis. The position involves working 37.5 hours each week on a rotating shift schedule:
- Shift 1: 05:30 – 13:30
- Shift 2: 14:00 – 22:00
The role includes sustaining daily operational activities of the school site, ensuring a secure, safe, and inviting setting for staff, students, and visitors. The role supports service delivery in close coordination with the Area Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing general caretaking duties, including cleaning and minor maintenance work
- Managing site security by opening and closing the facilities
- Building constructive relationships with school personnel and community users
- Ensuring service levels meet consistently high standards
- Adhering to health and safety guidelines and supporting compliance efforts
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Additional desirable qualifications include facility caretaking or maintenance experience, supervisory skills, fundamental knowledge of building systems, and health and safety practices.
