Job description
Role Purpose
The Care Assistant is tasked with delivering daily personal care and support services to individuals at Delta Centre who have intellectual disabilities. This role is deeply rooted in the belief that each person has unique value and equal importance in society.
Working collaboratively with management, the Care Assistant ensures that all individuals receive safe, meaningful, inclusive, and high-quality care that enhances their lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the lives of service users align with Delta Centre's core values and their personalized Care Plans.
- Support service users to experience dignity and respect in all interactions.
- Encourage and assist service users in making personal choices and contributing to their communities.
- Exhibit empathy and understanding towards the individuals served.
- Implement Care Plans and Person-Centred Plans accurately and thoughtfully.
- Utilize appropriate communication systems to understand and meet individual needs.
- Assist each person in becoming as independent and self-expressive as possible.
- Build trust through consistent and dependable care.
- Comply fully with all organizational policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
Personal Profile and Legal Requirements
- Applicants must have and maintain an independent legal right to work in Ireland; employment permit sponsorship is not offered.
Education and Experience
- Possession of a FETAC Level 5 qualification in Health Care is mandatory.
- Proven experience in healthcare, particularly supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, is essential.
- A genuine passion and commitment to this area of care is required.
Knowledge and Skills
- Sound knowledge and ability to interpret relevant legislation, including The National Standards for Adults with Disabilities.
- Excellent communication and motivation.
- Outstanding record-keeping and documentation abilities.
- Capability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Flexibility and adaptability, including participation in shift work covering 24/7 schedules.

- A full clean driving license is preferred.
