Role Overview

The Camel Groomer is tasked with the grooming, hygiene maintenance, and general care of camels to ensure their well-being and aesthetic presentation. This position demands expert handling of camels, adherence to safety and animal welfare guidelines, and collaboration with relevant personnel to support the animals' health and appearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute regular grooming procedures including cleaning, brushing, washing, and maintaining the camel's coat condition.
• Conduct preliminary inspections to evaluate the camel’s overall health, skin, coat, hooves, and detect any injuries or discomfort.
• Handle camels cautiously through safe restraint, leading, and positioning during grooming tasks.
• Remove dust, dirt, mud, loose hair, and debris from the camel’s fur and body.
• Enhance camel cleanliness and appearance following company grooming standards.
• Trim hair or coat as needed for hygiene, presentation, or operational requirements.
• Clean camel hooves, monitor for problems, and report concerns requiring veterinary attention.
• Assist with bathing and drying using suitable grooming tools and animal-friendly products.
• Keep grooming tools and equipment clean, functional, and safe for use.
• Observe camels during grooming for signs of stress, illness, or abnormal behaviors and report these promptly.
• Communicate health or behavioral issues to supervisors and veterinary staff immediately.
• Apply proper animal-handling methods to reduce stress and prevent injury for camels and staff alike.
• Maintain clean, organized grooming, washing, and holding areas.
• Document grooming details, animal health records, treatments, and related information accurately.
• Adhere to established grooming, bathing, trimming, and general camel care schedules.
• Support the preparation of camels for events such as exhibitions, tourism, photography, competitions, and other activities.
• Coordinate efforts with animal handlers, veterinarians, trainers, farm, and operations staff.
• Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations, occupational health and safety standards, and company policies.
• Properly store grooming supplies and equipment after use.
• Identify hazards, damaged tools, injuries, incidents, or near misses and report safety issues promptly.
• Assist in veterinary checks, health assessments, and transportation preparation as needed.
• Facilitate the adoption of new grooming tools, techniques, products, and care procedures.
• Maintain a professional, respectful, and safe working environment for animals and personnel.
• Perform additional camel grooming and care duties as assigned by management.
