Job Overview
The Biomedical Equipment Calibration Engineer is entrusted with ensuring the precise calibration, rigorous testing, and thorough validation of medical devices to guarantee their accuracy, dependability, and adherence to regulatory mandates. This position demands technical hands-on responsibilities, meticulous documentation practices, and active collaboration with hospital personnel to uphold equipment efficiency and ensure patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled calibration activities on critical biomedical devices including ventilators, patient monitors, infusion pumps, adhering to OEM and relevant regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct comprehensive functional, performance, and electrical safety tests utilizing calibration instruments such as safety analyzers and simulators, alongside resolving minor technical faults.
- Generate and preserve calibration documentation including reports, certificates, and service logs to comply with NABH, ISO, and NABL standards.
- Support both internal and external audit processes by verifying the accuracy of documentation and ensuring complete traceability of equipment.
- Coordinate closely with service teams, hospital staff, and senior engineers for effective calibration scheduling and quick issue remediation.
- Offer foundational training and guidance to end users on proper equipment usage and routine maintenance practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a Diploma or B.Tech degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or fields with similar relevance.
- At least one year of practical experience specifically within biomedical equipment calibration.
- Sound knowledge of biomedical devices and standard calibration methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards such as ISO 13485, NABH, and NABL pertinent to healthcare equipment.
- Demonstrated abilities in problem-solving and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Meticulous attention to detail combined with precision in maintaining documentation.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
- Possession of certification related to medical equipment calibration is advantageous.
