Role Overview
The Cabling Technician will work full-time on-site at VERITAS Technology CFM in the Doha Metropolitan Area. This position involves installing, pulling, terminating, and testing a variety of structured cabling systems, including copper and optical fiber cables, for data, CCTV, and network infrastructures in commercial and industrial settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and building layouts to plan cable routes and network points effectively.
- Install, route, secure, terminate, and label cables while maintaining clear documentation of installations.
- Operate and maintain hand tools and test equipment such as cable testers, crimpers, punch-down tools, and fiber termination devices safely and effectively.
- Perform testing to verify cable integrity and compliance with structured cabling standards.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose cabling issues, including faults and connectivity problems, and carry out corrective maintenance even in live operational environments.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, tradespeople, contractors, and clients on-site to ensure timely and quality project completion.
- Maintain safety protocols, adhere to company policies, ensure a tidy work area, and provide regular status updates to supervisors and clients.
- Work physically in diverse environments such as ceilings, confined spaces, using ladders, and managing moderate lifting tasks.
- Accommodate flexible working hours, including occasional extended shifts based on project requirements within the Doha Metropolitan Area.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven practical experience in structured cabling installation, termination, and testing with copper and fiber optic systems.
- Ability to comprehend and utilize technical documentation related to cabling and network layouts.
- Competency with hand tools and specialized equipment for cable termination and testing, ensuring safe handling.
- Familiarity with industry standards, labeling systems, and documentation practices for structured cabling.
- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing cabling problems and performing maintenance in active network settings.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork abilities to interact effectively with various stakeholders on-site.
- Physical fitness suited to working in challenging environments and performing manual handling tasks.
- Attention to detail and strict adherence to safety and quality procedures.
- Prior experience in cabling or low-voltage installations is preferred; vocational or technical certifications are advantageous.
