Overview
Ventia is seeking three skilled Cable Jointers to support electricity distribution network projects and maintenance activities throughout the Waikato region. This full-time, permanent on-site role involves hands-on fieldwork focused on the installation, jointing, termination, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and fault repair of underground electrical cables and related network infrastructure. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, quality, and workmanship across diverse worksites in Canterbury.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform jointing and termination of both high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) cables.
- Install, maintain, test, and commission underground network assets.
- Identify and resolve cable faults promptly.
- Interpret and utilize network drawings and technical documents accurately.
- Execute tasks in line with industry standards, network owner specifications, and company policies.
- Maintain precise job documentation and reporting.
- Participate in emergency response efforts and after-hours callouts as needed.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Cable Jointing High Voltage) Level 4, National Certificate in Cable Jointing, or equivalent overseas certification.
- Current EWRB Cable Jointer Registration with a Practising Licence, or eligibility to obtain registration via recognized overseas pathways.
- A minimum of three years' relevant experience in cable jointing.
- Capability to work at multiple locations across Canterbury.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in electricity distribution network environments.
- Proficiency in cable jointing, terminations, testing, and commissioning of underground systems.
- Current First Aid certification.
- Traffic Management qualifications (TTM Worker, TMO, or STMS).
- Authorizations for network access competencies and high-risk work.
- Valid Class 2 Driver Licence.
