Cable Jointer

Role Overview

Northpower seeks a skilled Cable Jointer to join their team, responsible for installing, joining, and terminating cables on both underground and overhead electrical distribution networks. The role involves conducting cable testing and identifying existing cables using both visual inspections and specialized instruments.

Key Duties

• Install, replace, and repair electrical distribution systems both underground and overhead.
• Perform cable jointing and termination; assemble electrical components such as panels, junction boxes, ring main units, and transformers.
• Conduct cable testing to verify cable selection and assess cable conditions pre- and post-work.
• Ensure safety by implementing proper isolation and earthing procedures before and after completing tasks.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and effective teamwork.

Applicant Requirements

• Possess a New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointer – High Voltage Level 4 or equivalent.
• Hold a New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply Cable Jointer – Low Voltage Level 3 or equivalent.
• Have NZ Electrical Registration (EWRB) in Electrical Supply or an equivalent credential.
• Ideally, bring at least 2 years of relevant experience in high voltage and/or low voltage cable jointing.
• Demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work independently.
• Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Hold a current Class 1 New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
