Cable Design Engineer

About the Role

The Cable Design Engineer will be responsible for the comprehensive process of designing, specifying, and engineering cable systems and assemblies. This responsibility encompasses complex calculations, material selection, routing strategies, and adherence to rigorous industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct essential design computations such as cable sizing, ampacity calculations, voltage drop, and cable pulling tension.
• Choose suitable insulation, shielding, and jacketing materials based on environmental, mechanical, and electrical considerations.
• Lead all design initiatives related to new family products by releasing prototype trials following company design protocols, reviewing inspection and type test criteria, and establishing manufacturing and testing acceptance benchmarks.
• Review existing methods and performance, alongside ongoing research and development to incorporate the latest technical standards and optimize processes.
• Collaborate with clients to comprehend project requirements and guarantee technical specifications are fulfilled.
• Attend client visits, technical meetings, seminars, and industry exhibitions as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within cable design or engineering.
• Training or certification in power cables, ampacity calculation, PMP, or related areas is preferred.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of French is advantageous.
