Role Overview
We are seeking a Butcher to prepare, showcase, and sell premium protein items. This role involves mentoring aspiring Meat Assistants and advising customers on optimal meat cuts with expertise beyond typical supermarket offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Break down, bone, portion, and prepare meat according to Harris Farm Markets' standards.
- Deliver cuts with consistent accuracy in weight, trimming, and presentation.
- Create value-added items such as marinades, skewers, burger patties, sausages, and roasts.
- Inspect every delivery to ensure quality compliance, rejecting substandard products.
- Utilize butchery expertise to reduce waste and convert trimmings into saleable products.
Candidate Profile
- Passionate about food and protein, with prior experience in fresh food retail environments.
- Excellent communication skills to support and substitute for the Butcher Manager when necessary.
- Aptitude for guiding new team members not only technically but also in embracing the Harris Farm culture.
- Strict adherence to cold chain protocols, hygiene, and food safety throughout every shift.
- Commitment to maintaining immaculate butcher stations, including blocks, boards, counters, and tools, reflecting professional pride.
