Job description
Position Overview
The Business Development Representative will focus on uncovering new business prospects, cultivating client relationships, and aiding the expansion of the company’s portfolio in contracting, construction, timber, and furniture sectors. This role emphasizes acquiring projects, broadening market reach, assisting tender processes, and engaging clients in both public and private arenas.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and generate new leads through direct outreach, networking, referrals, industry resources, and market intelligence gathering.
- Maintain a robust database of prospects and clients, converting these leads into active business opportunities.
- Monitor project progress from initial stages up to tender submission and awarding, recognizing key stakeholders such as consultants, developers, and contractors.
- Perform consistent follow-ups on project requirements, timelines, and status.
- Conduct regular meetings and visits to clients, building and sustaining relationships with crucial decision-makers and key industry contacts.
- Represent the organization at industry-related exhibitions, conferences, and networking occasions.
- Collaborate with Estimation, Technical, Design, and Commercial teams to prepare competitive proposals and quotations, ensuring alignment with client needs and timely submissions.
- Support negotiation and commercial discussions prior to contract award.
- Manage the seamless handover of awarded projects to Sales, Projects, and Operations teams, maintaining client involvement during transitions.
- Continuously track competitor moves, pricing trends, and emerging market opportunities, providing insightful recommendations to management.
Performance Indicators
- Achievement of business development targets and conversion ratios from leads to opportunities and opportunities to awards.
- Growth in pipeline value and revenue contribution from new clients.
- Client retention rates and expansion of relationships.
- Accuracy and timeliness of official reporting.
Required Skills and Qualities
- Exceptional negotiation and communication capabilities.
- Strong commercial acumen and financial insight.
- Effective relationship-building and networking skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Familiarity with CRM software is advantageous.
- Fluent in English; Arabic language skills are considered beneficial.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or related disciplines.
- At least five years of overall experience in business development roles.
- Preferably a minimum of two years’ experience within contracting, timber/wood, and furniture industries.
- Comprehensive understanding of construction projects, tendering procedures, and contract management.
- Demonstrable experience working with consultants, developers, and government organizations.
