Job description

About CYGNVS

CYGNVS acts as the out-of-band command center for cyber and AI incident response, serving over 3,000 organizations spanning 71 countries. Supported by Andreessen Horowitz and other leading investors, the company is an expanding startup pioneering a niche at the junction of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and crisis management. Joining CYGNVS provides a unique chance to be part of an early-stage team, significantly influence outcomes, and advance professionally amid scaling operations.

Role Overview

We are forming our initial Business Development Representative (BDR) team consisting of four BDRs and one BDR Manager. This foundational role entails crafting the team’s operational framework rather than executing pre-existing methods. It requires individuals with a strong drive, competitiveness, and a passion for collaborative success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert inbound marketing leads from diverse sources such as website queries, content downloads, and form submissions into vetted, sales-ready meetings.
  • Assist with the complete event lifecycle by promoting attendee registration before events, possibly representing CYGNVS onsite to cultivate contacts, and conducting structured follow-up to fully capitalize on generated pipeline.
  • Manage follow-up on responses generated by multi-channel direct mail campaigns, turning these into qualified sales opportunities.
  • Consistently meet or exceed monthly targets for qualified meetings.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on outbound prospecting unaffected by marketing-generated leads, focusing on developing pipeline within the ideal customer profile through individual research and outreach.
  • Research targeted accounts and key personas, primarily CISOs and other security or risk executives at large enterprises, to tailor outreach and assess suitability prior to scheduling meetings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all interactions, lead status updates, and qualification details within CRM and sales engagement platforms.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Sales to provide feedback on lead quality, messaging strategies, and campaign effectiveness.

Candidate Requirements

  • Between one to two years of experience in enterprise-level SDR, BDR, or MDR roles, ideally engaging with large accounts.
  • A proven history of meeting or surpassing pipeline and meeting goals.
  • Confidence and skill in communicating with high-level stakeholders, including executives like CISOs, through phone, email, and social channels.
  • A competitive nature and strong ambition to succeed within a team setting.
  • An innovative, proactive approach with a preference for action, comfortable working without comprehensive manuals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills complemented by adeptness in overcoming objections.
  • Availability to travel and represent the company at industry events when necessary.
  • Residence in or willingness to work from Toronto, with a requirement to be onsite three to four days weekly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling products or services in the cybersecurity sector.
  • Previous roles in enterprise cybersecurity or SaaS sales environments.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot and Outreach sales tools.

Additional Information

Joining now means becoming a pioneering member of the CYGNVS BDR team, directly influencing the outbound and lead-generation strategies from inception, with transparent access to Sales and Marketing leadership and excellent opportunities to grow within the BDR and Sales divisions as the team expands.
