Role Overview
The Business Development Representative (BDR) plays a pivotal role in expanding Cohere's revenue by pinpointing, evaluating, and nurturing promising leads for our enterprise AI solutions. This role serves as the initial point of contact for prospective clients, needing a deep understanding of their business requirements and aligning them with Cohere’s AI offerings addressing complex challenges such as natural language processing and scalable language models. The position includes engaging with cutting-edge intellectual property that is actively being productized within one's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively research and target accounts across various sectors including finance, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and the public sector, employing tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator and CRM systems to prioritize ideal prospects.
- Execute more than 40 outbound calls and customized emails daily to engage key decision-makers such as CTOs, CIOs, and business unit leaders, focusing on uncovering their pain points and showcasing how Cohere’s AI solutions meet their needs.
- Employ the BANT methodology (Budget, Authority, Need, Timeline) to qualify leads and meticulously record all interactions within Salesforce to maintain an accurate and actionable sales pipeline.
- Partner with marketing to tailor messaging and campaigns based on feedback from prospects, enhancing campaign response rates by over 15%.
- Keep abreast of trends in the industry, competitor products, and Cohere’s roadmap to effectively position offerings and proactively address client requirements.
- Manage complete sales cycles independently for smaller deals, from initial introduction through to closing.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience in business development, sales, or similar roles within SaaS or tech industries, with a demonstrated record of surpassing lead generation goals.
- Fluency or native proficiency in Arabic.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex technical ideas for non-technical stakeholders and quickly establishing rapport via phone and email.
- Experience with CRM platforms like Salesforce or HubSpot and sales enablement tools, including data analysis skills to optimize outreach efforts.
- Background in AI, machine learning, or enterprise software sales, coupled with a foundational knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) concepts.
- Previous closing experience is advantageous.
- A proactive builder mindset is essential to thrive in this evolving role within a dynamic team environment.
