Job description

Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Business Development Manager specialized in fertilizers to join our expanding team based in Singapore. The role is ideal for someone who thrives on customer interaction, enjoys problem-solving, and is comfortable with cold-calling and frequent travel throughout Asia and the Middle East. The candidate will serve as a subject matter expert on commodity pricing and fertilizer markets, aiming to enhance Argus’ reputation, build strong relationships with key fertilizer industry stakeholders, and promote the usage of Argus price benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement regional growth strategies across Asia and the Middle East to increase adoption of Argus fertilizer price assessments and subscription services.
  • Support strategic goals, including strengthening partnerships with brokers and exchanges and aiding development of Argus-based fertilizer derivatives.
  • Establish and nurture strong connections with fertilizer industry leaders through proactive engagement.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and report editors to improve price assessments, methodologies, and develop new products addressing customer challenges.
  • Understand client demands for fundamental data and fertilizer price forecasts.
  • Monitor competitors in the Asia and Middle East fertilizer markets to inform strategies for market leadership.
  • Assist account managers by identifying commercial opportunities and participating in meetings to demonstrate Argus service value.
  • Represent Argus at industry conferences and speaking engagements.
  • Coordinate regional fertilizer strategies with senior leadership and communicate market developments regularly.
  • Contribute to white papers, presentations, analyses, and marketing collateral as needed.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in fertilizer price reporting, trading, supply, or analysis with strong grasp of industry economics and logistics.
  • Experience in promoting price indexation, business intelligence, or market analytics in energy or fertilizer-related sectors.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building abilities with diverse stakeholders including senior executives and governmental organizations.
  • Skilled at identifying customer challenges and aligning solutions with Argus offerings.
  • Experience managing cross-cultural teams, focusing on APAC, South Asia, and Middle East regions.
  • Ability to succeed in complex matrix organizations and collaborate effectively across business units.
  • Relevant undergraduate or master’s degree.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Travel Requirements

This position involves extensive travel, approximately 20-25%, across Asia and the Middle East.
