Job description
Company Overview
LUCA SGP PTE LTD is a Singapore-licensed fund management firm under the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). We specialize in creating a private markets foundry that consolidates investment design, structuring, and manufacturing. Our mission is to make institutional-grade private market opportunities more accessible, efficient, and scalable for distribution partners, enhancing their offerings to high-net-worth individuals and family offices.
Role Summary
The Business Development Manager will be pivotal in growing LUCA SGP’s footprint across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan. This position entails identifying new opportunities, nurturing relationships with distribution partners, and assisting the company’s growth strategies through deep knowledge of private markets and client needs. Reporting directly to the Chief Revenue Officer, the role demands collaboration with investment and product teams to craft tailored investment solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and sustain a robust pipeline of prospective distribution partners throughout East Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan) and Southeast Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand), including private banks, brokerages, family offices, wealth managers, independent consultants, and other financial intermediaries serving high-net-worth and institutional clients.
- Broaden LUCA SGP’s regional distribution network by identifying, cultivating, and managing strategic partnerships; gaining profound understanding of their business strategies, client demographics, investment goals, and product requirements to create value-added opportunities.
- Develop extensive expertise in private market sectors such as venture capital, private equity, private credit, and alternative investments; track market movements, investor preferences, competitor actions, and fresh trends to spot new business and product avenues.
- Collaborate closely with investment research and product teams to transform partner and client insights into bespoke investment products; supply market intelligence to assist in product development, investment structures, and distribution strategies.
- Partner with investment research, product, marketing, operations, and compliance teams to generate investment proposals, presentations, marketing collateral, and other materials that effectively communicate LUCA’s offerings.
- Lead and execute business development initiatives, including partner engagements, roadshows, presentations, webinars, conferences, enhancing relationship building, opportunity generation, and business conversion.
- Manage daily relationships with assigned distribution partners independently, coordinating internal teams to maintain responsiveness and service excellence; uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Maintain an active pipeline, providing frequent reports on relationship progress, prospective mandates, estimated revenues, and achievement of business development goals and KPIs.
- Ensure all activities comply with LUCA SGP’s policies and relevant regulatory frameworks, coordinating with compliance to align marketing, solicitation, communication, and distribution with jurisdictional requirements.
- Work in synchrony with LUCA’s Singapore, Japan, and regional teams to accomplish revenue targets, strategic goals, and foster ongoing expansion of LUCA’s private market presence across Asia.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or related fields; candidates with financial services experience may be considered without this degree on a case-by-case basis.
- Three to five years of relevant experience in business development, sales, relationship management, or similar roles within financial services, focusing on client-facing responsibilities.
- Proven ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with financial intermediaries, institutional investors, wealth managers, family offices, private banks, or other distributors of financial products.
- Strong interest and aptitude for private markets and alternative investments, showing intellectual curiosity and analytical skills to understand investment products, market dynamics, and client requirements; prior private markets experience is a plus but not required.
- Commercial acumen with the capacity to recognize opportunities, grasp partner needs, and collaborate internally to develop actionable investment and product solutions.
- Self-driven and resourceful, capable of managing projects and relationships independently in a dynamic, fast-moving environment with changing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to convey investment concepts clearly and confidently; proficient presentation and negotiation skills are important.
- Experience or strong knowledge of Asian wealth management and financial distribution markets preferred; existing contacts with private banks, family offices, wealth managers, brokers, or other financial intermediaries are advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Japanese financial and wealth management market is highly beneficial, along with professional fluency in Japanese and English, aligning with LUCA’s growth goals in Japan.
- Willingness and ability to travel across Asia to develop partner relationships, support roadshows, attend industry events, and pursue new business development opportunities.
- High ethical standards, discretion, and sound judgment in managing confidential client, partner, and investment information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel; experience with CRM and business development tools is a plus.
