About Cue-X

Cue-X is a specialised Australian consultancy headquartered in Canberra, focusing on Change, Data, Program Delivery, and ICT transformation across the Federal Government. This boutique firm partners with Defence, Federal Government, and large organisations to provide skilled local professionals cleared for security, aiding in the design, implementation, and support of secure and efficient technology environments.

Role Overview

We seek an experienced Business Development Manager who is deeply familiar with the Canberra Federal Government market. This role involves leading Cue-X’s growth strategy in the Commonwealth sector, building and managing strong client relationships, and driving new business opportunities. The position is supported by leadership, delivery, and talent teams, offering the autonomy to establish and grow the footprint with personal ownership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and lead a targeted growth strategy for Federal Government engagement, focusing on key departments, agencies, programs, and stakeholders.
  • Develop trusted relationships with senior officials at EL2, Assistant Secretary, and SES levels.
  • Stay informed about upcoming programs and procurement processes.
  • Align client requirements with Cue-X’s expertise in change, data, program delivery, and ICT transformation.
  • Create detailed account plans and maintain an accurate, qualified sales pipeline.
  • Lead the qualification of opportunities and oversee proposal development, tenders, presentations, and commercial offers.
  • Establish partnerships with subject matter experts, prime contractors, and technology partners to access panels, partnerships, and subcontracting avenues.
  • Collaborate closely with internal delivery and talent teams to ensure opportunities are properly resourced and executed.
  • Convert initial client contacts into sustained, long-term partnerships.
  • Represent Cue-X within Canberra’s government and consulting sectors.

Candidate Profile

  • Currently engaged and respected within the Federal Government market with a thorough understanding of what it takes to secure contracts.
  • Experience in consulting, professional services, technology, or transformational initiatives.
  • Strong, up-to-date network across Federal Government entities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Commonwealth procurement processes including panels, AusTender, BuyICT, and partner-led market entry strategies.
  • Competent in digital transformation, ICT delivery, organisational change, data, and program delivery to engage confidently with clients.
  • Skilled in account planning, pipeline management, and contributing to proposals and tenders.
  • Good business acumen with a firm grasp of revenue generation, margin management, and delivery risks.
  • Motivated with resilience to develop a significant market presence independently.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work harmoniously with leadership, delivery, and talent teams.
