Overview

The Business Development Manager is tasked with identifying and capitalizing on new business prospects, forging strategic alliances, growing the customer base, and boosting revenue in both local and global markets. This role demands expertise in business growth, sales, market analysis, negotiation, and international commerce.

Primary Duties

  • Design and execute business development plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Discover and engage new clients, distributors, vendors, and strategic collaborators.
  • Conduct thorough market research on trends, consumer preferences, competitors, and prospective markets.
  • Build and nurture solid relationships with customers and partners.
  • Spot opportunities to broaden the company’s consumer goods offerings and geographic presence.
  • Craft business proposals, deliver presentations, draft quotations, and finalize commercial contracts.
  • Negotiate pricing structures, contracts, and business agreements with stakeholders.
  • Work closely with procurement, logistics, finance, sales, and operations departments to ensure seamless transactions.
  • Assist in formulating and implementing import/export strategies.
  • Track sales metrics, market opportunities, and revenue growth.
  • Represent the organization at trade exhibitions, meetings, networking sessions, and industry forums.
  • Maintain a current pipeline of prospective clients and business opportunities.
  • Generate periodic business development reports and advise leadership with insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and relevant trade regulations in all business activities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or related disciplines.
  • Between five to seven years of proven experience in business development, sales, international trade, import/export, or similar commercial roles.
  • Exposure to the consumer goods sector is preferable.
  • Strong grasp of client acquisition, market growth, and negotiation tactics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and CRM or business management software.
